Welcome to Energy Corridor
The Energy Corridor refers to an area which runs along Interstate 10 from Kirkwood in the East to Barker Cypress Road in the West. The area got its name by the fact that many energy companies are based here including majors Shell and BP.
However, the actual Energy Corridor residential "market area" is to the south of this business district.
The area is extremely popular with Energy Industry employees wanting a short commute to work and still be close to all that Houston has to offer. The area is made up of leafy residential streets with older homes, some gated master-planned communities, and a great selection of apartments. Many employees also commute into this area daily.
Zip 77077 is the defined Energy Corridor market area for residential homes.
Zip 77079 covers Memorial West (some think of this as Energy Corridor also). Memorial West is covered on a separate page on this website.
Lakes on Eldridge and Twin Lakes are not technically "Energy Corridor" but they are extremely popular with oil and gas employees. They are too the north of I10 on Eldridge.
Location and Commute
Commute to EC offices from surrounding neighborhoods is 5-15 minutes. Commute into downtown can be around 25 minutes in the morning but 40-55 on the return depending on time of day.
77077, the EC market area, is characterized by more traditional communities with single-family, older homes. Some are two-story but many are ranch-style. Neighborhoods are leafy and filled with trees. To the west of Eldridge Parkway, there are some master-planned communities including Lakes on Parkway. Many are gated. Homes tend to be relatively newer and larger in these newer communities.
A vast array of apartments and some townhomes from old to brand new line the major thoroughfares with Eldridge Parkway having a large concentration. Townhomes can also be found within some gated communities.
Eldridge Parkway is a hub of handy amenities including grocery stores, banks, post offices, and more. The major shopping centers of Town and Country Mall, City Center, and Memorial City Mall are a short 10-15 minute drive away located on I10 and 8.
26,000 acres of urban park is on the doorstep of the EC with Bear Creek and George Bush Park close by. Terry Hershey Park offers a great bike and running trail.
77077 falls under HISD and largely zones into Ray Daily Elementary whereas some of the communities west of Eldridge zone into Barbara Bush, one of the top-rated elementary schools in Texas. West Briar Middle and Westside High are also local schools. The Village School is located just off Eldridge Parkway and the new British International School is a short 20 minutes west in Katy.
Yorkshire Academy is close by on Memorial Drive.
